Piedra has been making cigars since over 100 years when it was first founded by the Vicente and José Piedra brothers, using tobacco grown in the Remedios region, grown for domestic consumption in Cuba. Originally machine-made cigars, José L. Piedra cigars are now made using the Tripa Corta, Totalmente a Mano technique (totally handmade, using short filler tobacco) creating medium to full flavored cigars.
Jose L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Habano not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region, but also because it is made using the totally hand made, short filler technique.
